Prompt Guard privacy policy
Prompt Guard runs only in your browser.
## What it reads
- On ChatGPT (chatgpt.com), Claude (claude.ai) and Gemini (gemini.google.com) — and, if you have Pro and allow them one by one, a short list of other AI chat sites — Prompt Guard reads the text you paste into the message box and the message you are about to send, so it can check it for secrets and personal data (API keys, passwords, card numbers, ID numbers, and your own custom keywords).
- It only reads message boxes (text areas and editors). It never reads password fields, card fields or one-time-code fields on web forms.
- It does not read or run on any other website.
## What it stores
- Your settings, custom rules and a count of how many items it has caught, in Chrome's local storage on this computer.
- With Pro, an optional local audit log: the time, the site's address, what kinds of data were found (for example "1 card number") and what you chose to do. The log never contains the text you typed or pasted. You can export or clear it at any time.
- Prompt Guard never stores the text of your messages.
## What it sends
- Nothing you type or paste. Every check happens on your device. There are no analytics, trackers or remote code.
- If you buy Pro, payment is processed by ExtensionPay and Stripe, who receive your email and payment details to manage the subscription. If you start a free trial, ExtensionPay receives your email address to send the trial link and track the trial period.
- If you choose to join our tips & offers email list on our website, your email is stored by our email provider (Kit) to send those emails; every email has an unsubscribe link, and the extension itself never collects it.
## Cancelling Cancel anytime from the extension (Manage → Manage or cancel subscription); you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
